Great breakfast biscuit, all you need to add is the egg!
Ingredients you will need:
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 4 Tbs butter (plus extra for baking)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cloves garlic
- 4 slices of ham
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese grated
How to make your own self-rising flour:
- 1 cup fresh milled flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
How to make your own buttermilk:
- 1 cup milk
- 1 Tbs white vinegar
Begin grinding the flour you want to use according to your mill’s instructions.
Once your flour is milled make it into self-rising flour by adding in the baking powder and salt. Once all the dry ingredients are mixed, make the buttermilk by adding pouring milk and vinegar together and letting set until it thickens, about 10 mins. Preheat the oven to 450.
Now it is time to saute the ham and minced garlic until they are browned. Then remove from the skillet and dice.
Fold in the sliced ham and garlic into the dough you have made. Now the dough is ready to be formed, flour a portion of the counter and roll out the dough to be about 3/4 inch thick. Use a cup or biscuit cutter to cut out the dough into circles and place into a buttered pan.
Now they will bake for 20-25 mins. Once they are golden, remove from the oven and enjoy!
